Milan Škriniar Set for Fenerbahçe Move as PSG Transfer Nears Completion

Milan Škriniar is preparing to move to Fenerbahçe from Paris Saint-Germain. The experienced defender will travel soon for his medical check-up before signing a long-term contract in Istanbul.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Milan Škriniar is almost ready to make a full move to Fenerbahçe from his current loan at PSG. The Turkish club and PSG are finishing the final details of the agreement. Reports confirm that Škriniar will travel soon for his medical and is expected to sign a contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. Fenerbahçe’s manager, José Mourinho, specifically requested this transfer. Preliminary estimates suggest that Fenerbahçe will pay between €10 million and €15 million for Škriniar. This is a significant deal for the Istanbul side and shows Škriniar’s departure from Paris, where he did not make much impact in the past couple seasons.

FENERBAHÇE’S SEASON SO FAR

Fenerbahçe is in a close race at the top of the Süper Lig. They finished last season second, just behind Galatasaray, the leaders. With new coach José Mourinho, the club is aiming for the title after finishing as runners-up last season. Their defense has been weak, allowing 36 goals in 35 matches. Adding Škriniar is seen as a vital move to strengthen Fenerbahçe’s defense, especially for the last important matches of the season. Their next match is against Alanyaspor, a team fighting to avoid relegation and currently sitting in 16th place, only one spot above the drop zone.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR PSG AND ŠKRINIAR?

Škriniar transferred to PSG from Inter Milan in 2023. However, he did not become a regular starter, with only 20 appearances in Ligue 1 this season. Since PSG has already secured the Ligue 1 title and is now preparing for the next season, they are focusing on moving players who do not fit into their future plans. Fenerbahçe presents a fresh start for Škriniar and a chance to play a crucial role under Mourinho, who personally wanted him at the club. Fenerbahçe is hoping that his experience can help them close the small gap to the first place and win the Süper Lig trophy, which they have not won for a decade.
