Mile Svilar Signs Long-Term Extension With AS Roma

Mile Svilar has penned an extension to his contract with AS Roma to keep him at the club for seven more years as the Belgian custodian has agreed to a new deal which will commit his long-term future to the Serie A outfit.

According to a previous report, Mile Svilar‘s new contract includes a 3.5 million euro yearly salary with performance-related bonuses.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Roma announced on Friday that Mile Svilar has signed a new deal with the club which will keep him at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2030. The 25-year-old has been a key performer for the Giallorossi in the recently concluded season as he made 52 appearances across all competitions and registered 22 clean sheets, which was the joint-highest number in club history in a single campaign.

His performances last season included 38 Serie A appearances, where he kept 16 clean sheets and conceded 35 goals a previous report.

The player’s consistent performances helped the club notch up 25 Serie A clean sheets after their first season in Italy and play a key role in the club chasing a European spot as Roma finished fifth on the league table in the 2024/25 season.

While the article states they finished fourth, recent updates confirmed that AS Roma finished fifth in the Serie A last season.

After signing the new contract, Svilar told the club’s official website, “I am extremely happy and proud to have signed this contract, which means I will stay linked to a club I love for a long time, one my family and I have always felt connected to. I have always said Roma is the perfect place for me, especially because of the emotional connection we have with our fans. Now it’s up to us to continue what we’ve begun.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Svilar was suspended for four matches in between the season in February 2025 for a conceded penalty during Roma’s clash against Juventus, but the shot-stopper made a strong comeback as he was awarded the Best Goalkeeper award in the league at the end of the season.

Svilar’s value to the club extends beyond his on-field contributions, with his leadership and ability to provide crucial saves in important moments making him a pillar of strength for both the coaching staff and the fans who hold him in high regard.

WHAT NEXT FOR MILE SVILAR?

The 25-year-old’s immediate focus will be on lifting silverware with AS Roma in the upcoming season, with a major part of his attention trained on the club’s Champions League campaign.
