Napoli Close To Securing Udinese Striker Lorenzo Lucca

Napoli are getting close to signing Italian striker Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese. They plan to get him on a loan first, but they have to buy him later. The total price could be €35 million. Lucca has agreed to the move and has already set his personal terms.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Napoli and Udinese are in final negotiations. They are discussing the details of bonuses and extra fees. Napoli tried to get Darwin Nunez from Liverpool but failed, so Lucca became their main target. Lucca, 24, joined Udinese for €8 million in 2024. He scored 12 league goals last season in Serie A and assisted a few more. Lucca is set to sign a contract until 2030 with a salary of €2 million per year plus bonuses. Juventus and Atalanta were also interested but Napoli outbid them.

According to a previous report, his contract runs until 2030.

WHY THIS TRANSFER MATTERS

Lucca’s signing is significant because Napoli are undergoing a major rebuild after deciding to sell Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray for €75 million. With Osimhen out, Napoli need a new attacking force and Lucca fits the bill. Under new coach Antonio Conte, the club aim to revitalize their squad after winning the Serie A title in May. Lucca would play a critical role in achieving that goal, adding youth and physical presence to their front line. Primarily, he is expected to provide backup for last year’s summer arrival Romelu Lukaku.

According to a previous report, Napoli won the Serie A title in May under Antonio Conte.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR NAPOLI AND UDINESE?

If the deal is completed, Lucca will join Napoli’s pre-season training. He will acclimatize to Conte’s new style of play and quickly integrate into the team. Napoli’s opening Serie A fixture for the 2025/26 season is against Sassuolo, a team that gained promotion from the Serie B last season. Udinese, on the other hand, need to find new attacking options after losing their top scorer. They finished mid-table, ending in 12th spot with 44 points, 13 from relegation but also 21 behind Fiorentina, the last team to qualify for Europe, and filling Lucca’s void is crucial for them. As for Napoli, Lucca’s arrival should boost their goal-scoring abilities, helping them return to European competition.

According to a previous report, Udinese finished 12th in Serie A during the 2024/25 season.
