Napoli Confident in Keeping Title-Winning Boss Conte with Improved Deal

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has met with manager Antonio Conte to discuss a better contract and big transfer plans after winning the Serie A title.

CONTE SET TO STAY AT NAPOLI

Napoli are very confident that Antonio Conte will remain their manager for the 2025-26 season, despite recent rumors linking him with a return to Juventus. The club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has officially presented Conte with a salary increase proposal during their meeting. Instead of giving him a whole new contract, Napoli are adjusting Conte’s current salary while keeping the structure of his existing deal.

This development comes after Napoli’s impressive 2024-25 season, during which Conte led the club to their fourth Serie A title and their second league triumph in just three seasons. De Laurentiis hinted at the contract extension on social media by posting a photo with Conte and a caption that translates to “Full speed ahead – stronger than before.”

HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT

Conte made history in Italian football by becoming the first manager to win the Serie A title with three different clubs. This latest championship is his fifth league title as a coach, adding to his previous championship wins with Juventus and Inter Milan.

The title-winning campaign solidified Napoli’s position as one of Italy’s best clubs. They currently sit at the top of Serie A and have already secured the championship with two games to spare. Their closest rivals, Inter Milan, trail by nine points with just one match remaining in the season.

AMBITIOUS TRANSFER PLANS

A key factor in keeping Conte appears to be Napoli’s ambitious summer transfer plans. The club are already working on potential signings to strengthen the squad ahead of their title defense and Champions League campaign next season.

Napoli are reportedly close to signing Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, which could be one of Conte’s big additions this summer. This potential signing shows Napoli’s intent to continue building on their domestic success and make a significant impact in European competitions next season.

Napoli will begin their title defense in August when the 2025-26 Serie A season kicks off. They will also compete in the expanded UEFA Champions League format, hoping to improve on their round of 16 exit from this season’s competition. Their first competitive fixture will be the Italian Super Cup against Coppa Italia winners Atalanta in early August.
