Napoli Near Historic Kevin De Bruyne Signing After Securing Conte Stay

Napoli are close to signing Kevin De Bruyne for Serie A. The club’s director, Giovanni Manna, confirmed that talks are going well, and an agreement is “definitely close.” The move comes after coach Antonio Conte decided to stay with Napoli. Conte recently led the team to a Serie A title win.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Once Antonio Conte confirmed that he would stay, Napoli began working on a deal to sign Kevin De Bruyne. Talks between Napoli and De Bruyne’s representatives have progressed, and his lawyers are expected to arrive soon to finalize the deal. Napoli will offer De Bruyne a three-year contract potentially worth around €27 million. The Belgium international leaves Manchester City after winning six Premier League titles and one Champions League crown.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR NAPOLI AND DE BRUYNE

Napoli’s chance to sign De Bruyne comes after the club enjoyed a historic season. The team recently clinched the Serie A title after a 2-0 win over Cagliari. De Bruyne, 33, showed elite quality at City this season, but injuries have reduced his time on the pitch. Nevertheless, he made 22 league appearances, provided ten assists, and scored four goals. This move will allow De Bruyne to compete at the top level after leaving Manchester City as a free agent.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR NAPOLI?

With the Serie A title secured, Napoli will focus on finalizing De Bruyne’s transfer. The club’s immediate priority is to build a squad to defend their domestic title and make a mark in the UEFA Champions League. Napoli’s next match will be a celebratory one to mark the end of the 2024–25 Serie A campaign. The team will then turn their attention to making summer signings after De Bruyne.
