Nico Paz, the Argentina midfielder, won the Serie A Rising Star award for August, as confirmed by a recent report. He celebrated by scoring another amazing goal for Como, catching the eye of fans and Real Madrid scouts.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Paz turned 21 on Monday and was honored as the Serie A Rising Star of the Month for his great start to the season. In just two games, he scored a fantastic free-kick in Como’s 2-0 win over Lazio, where he assisted Anastasios Douvikas, as noted in a detailed report. Recently, Paz netted another stunning goal in Como’s match against Genoa, marking his second of the 2025/26 campaign. He received his award before the game at Stadio Sinigaglia, celebrated by fans and teammates.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Paz joined Como from Real Madrid last year for a reported €6 million and quickly became one of Serie A’s top young talents. In the 2024/25 season, he scored six goals and made eight assists in 35 league games, earning selections to the league’s Best Under-23 and Team of the Season selections. Como, who finished 10th last season, aim higher this season with Paz’s help. Real Madrid have a buy-back option until 2027, with indications they intend to bring him back in 2026.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR COMO AND PAZ?

Como face Fiorentina in their next Serie A match way from home, as the team currently has four points from three matches so far this season, sitting two points ahead of Fiorentina. Both teams are striving to climb the table, with Como currently mid-table after two rounds, featuring one win and one loss. Real Madrid are watching Paz closely, planning to bring him back in 2026 as he gains experience in Italy. If his form continues, he could become vital for both club and country in the future.
