Nicolas Jackson Lands in Munich as Bayern and Chelsea Finalize Record-Breaking Transfer Deal

Bayern Munich and Chelsea have struck a deal for Nicolas Jackson. He is traveling from London to complete his move. Chelsea have agreed to let the striker leave on an initial loan, with Bayern obliged to buy at a later date. Bayern Munich, aiming to bolster their attacking options, is looking to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes as previous reports suggest.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bayern, who are in the Champions League final on Tuesday, have long been interested in signing a new striker. Tuttosport reports that they have agreed to spend €81.5 million (£70.2m/$88.5m) in total to seal a deal for the former Villarreal man. However, recent updates indicate that Bayern aim to secure Jackson on loan for a €15 million fee, with the option to permanently sign him for up to €80 million according to sources.

Loan fees of €19.8m (£17.1m/$21.5m) and €12.2m (£10.6m/$13.1m) will be paid in the first 18 months of the striker’s time in Munich. The rest of the €49.5m (£42.6m/$54.1m) will be paid in installments once the permanent move takes effect.

AND WHAT’S MORE

It is believed that the former Villarreal forward has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the German champions. Chelsea have an ‘anti-Premier League‘ clause inserted into the initial loan agreement, meaning Jackson cannot move to another English club during the course of his time in Germany.

WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN AND CHELSEA?

Bayern boss Kompany is under pressure amid speculation surrounding Jose Mourinho’s potential candidacy as his successor. His side however won both their opening Bundesliga mathces and lead with 6 points along with Eintracht Frankfurt. Chelsea, meanwhile, are just two points below leaders Liverpool.
