Nicolas Kühn Set for Como Switch After Impressive Celtic Season

Nicolas Kühn is about to join Serie A team Como after a great year with Celtic. Como will pay €19 million for the German winger. He will have a medical check-up at the start of next week. Como won the race against RB Leipzig for this big signing. Ajax will get a small fee because Kühn trained in their academy.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Como have agreed with Celtic to buy Nicolas Kühn for €19 million. Personal terms are all set, and he will have medical tests early next week. Kühn, 25, moved from Austria Vienna to Celtic in January 2024. After a slow start, he became a key player last season, scoring 21 goals and having 15 assists in 51 games. His Champions League performances caught the attention of many European clubs, but Como’s offer led him to choose them.

WHY THIS TRANSFER MATTERS

Celtic will make a big profit, as they bought Kühn for around £3 million 18 months ago. The €19 million fee is one of the club’s largest sales. Losing Kühn, a key player in their successful season, leaves a gap in attack. Celtic signed Benjamin Nygren from FC Nordsjaelland for €1.5 million as a likely replacement and are looking for more players. Como, with Cesc Fabregas as manager, finished tenth in Serie A last season according to a previous report.

They want to improve their squad for a better finish.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CLUBS AND PLAYER?

Kühn’s transfer will be complete after he passes his medical and signs the contract. Celtic will focus on rebuilding their attack before their league opener. Nygren is expected to fill in, with more signings possible. Como hope Kühn’s Champions League experience and attacking skills will help them move up in Serie A. They finished just six points behind eighth place last season according to a previous report.

Como’s first game is against Bologna, who finished eighth, giving them an early challenge to test their new goals.
