Nik Preleć Joins Oxford United from Cagliari on Loan with Buy Obligation

Oxford United has signed Slovenian forward Nik Preleć on loan from Serie A club Cagliari. The deal includes a promise for Oxford to buy him at the end of the season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Preleć left Cagliari after two years in Italy and joined Oxford United on loan. Oxford had problems scoring in the second half of last season, so Preleć can help them do better.

OXFORD UNITED’S SITUATION

Last season, Oxford United finished 10th in League One, seven points short of the playoffs. Their top goal scorers each scored only nine goals. They hope Preleć can help them finish in the top six. Oxford’s next match is against MK Dons, who finished just one point ahead of them last season.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PRELEĆ

Preleć, 24, scored two goals in 20 Serie A games for Cagliari last season, most of which he played as a substitute. Oxford believes that getting regular playing time will help him find his form. Preleć’s move is the club’s biggest signing of the summer. Fans will be eager to see him make his debut when the new season starts. Last season, Cagliari finished 15th in Serie A and just 5 points above relegation, which reflects the competitive nature of the league and emphasizes the potential impact of Preleć’s transition to Oxford.
