Nordi Mukiele Set to Join Sunderland in €11m Move from PSG

Nordi Mukiele is moving to England. The French defender will sign for Sunderland after they agreed to pay Paris Saint-Germain €11 million. Sunderland is close to signing Nordi Mukiele from Paris Saint-Germain.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Sunderland, just promoted to the Premier League, have a deal for 27-year-old Nordi Mukiele. He is now in England to finalize the move from PSG. Mukiele was not part of Luis Enrique’s plans at PSG. Last season, he was on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, playing 24 games and scoring 2 goals. Sunderland have now signed 12 new players this summer as they prepare for the top league.

WHY SUNDERLAND WANTED MUKIELE

The club has a clear plan, making 11 signings before Mukiele. Many could play on opening day. Mukiele’s past teammate, Granit Xhaka, thinks Mukiele adds much-needed defensive skill. Mukiele’s career peak was at RB Leipzig, where he did well in 146 games. He then made a big move to PSG. Injuries and less playtime affected his time in Paris, but his recent performance at Leverkusen and top-level experience make him crucial for Sunderland’s new defence.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SUNDERLAND AND MUKIELE?

Sunderland start their Premier League matches against West Ham. There are seven new players who could play in this game, and the team wants to stay in and grow in the league, with Mukiele improving their defence right away. West Ham, the first opponent, finished 14th last season and also changed their team. Sunderland aim to get points early to stay away from the relegation zone. With Mukiele’s experience, they hope to become one of England’s best teams.
