Nottingham Forest And Leicester City In Talks For Viktor Kristiansen Transfer

Nottingham Forest are in talks with Leicester City to sign Danish left-back Viktor Kristiansen. They want to boost their squad before the transfer window closes.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Nottingham Forest have begun discussions to bring Viktor Kristiansen from Leicester City. The 22-year-old left-back is a top target as Forest aim to improve their full-back options. This is after Harry Toffolo’s recent move away.

Leicester City need money after losing top-flight status, and Kristiansen is one of their best players. He played 31 matches last term as the Foxes dropped to the Championship. They want to recover most of the £17 million they spent in January 2023, while Forest are looking at a £10 million deal.

Before his stint at Leicester, Kristiansen was on loan at Bologna. He made 32 appearances there and helped them seal a Europa League spot.

WHY ARE FOREST PUSHING FOR KRISTIANSEN?

Forest have taken four points from their first two Premier League matches after qualifying for the Conference League last season. However, manager Nuno Espirito Santo is clear the squad needs upgrades, especially defensively.

Harry Toffolo has left, and Neco Williams and Ola Aina are the main full-backs left at the club. Kristiansen would bring much-needed depth as well as experience.

Furthermore, Nuno has a rocky relationship with Forest’s higher-ups. The club want to invest in their manager after a 10-match unbeaten run and breaking into the top seven to qualify for the Europa League, as they finished seventh in the Premier League last season.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Both clubs are keen to wrap up the transfer soon as the deadline draws near. However, Leicester are demanding a high fee, with Kristiansen still under contract for three more years.

Forest face West Ham United next and would be looking at a win against a team that has struggled and is bottom of the league. Meanwhile, Leicester are still seeking their first win as a second-tier club from their clash against Middlesbrough.

Nuno is desperate for reinforcements, and Leicester want to bank money to back manager Steve Cooper. The two sides are eyeing a quick deal to suit both parties.
