Nottingham Forest Closing In on Juventus Duo Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula

Nottingham Forest are close to signing Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula from Juventus. The two players were left out of the squad for Juventus’ latest match, suggesting they may be on the move. Talks between Forest and Juventus have been progressing as Forest aim to strengthen their squad for the new season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula were not included in Juventus‘ matchday squad, increasing speculation about their departure. This follows discussions between Juventus and Nottingham Forest concerning the potential transfer of both players. Reports indicate a deal has been agreed between the two clubs for around €22 million, but the players have yet to finalise personal terms.

Both Weah and Mbangula are with Juventus in the United States as the team participates in the FIFA Club World Cup. Juventus have secured a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament after finishing fourth in Serie A this season.

WHY IT MATTERS

Nottingham Forest have qualified to play in the Conference League next season after finishing seventh in the Premier League. New manager Nuno Espirito Santo is focused on strengthening the squad, with emphasis on adding options in attack.

Timothy Weah, a 25-year-old forward, has struggled for consistency and minutes at Juventus, recording just seven goals and six assists in 78 appearances. His acquisition would give Forest a different option up front or out wide. Samuel Mbangula, meanwhile, is a 21-year-old winger who has just recently broken into Juventus’ first team.

Juventus, meanwhile, are willing to sell players after posting significant financial losses over the past two years. They are in need of a midfielder for the upcoming season, and could reinvest any funds raised via Weah and Mbangula’s sales.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

Nottingham Forest will work on agreeing personal terms with Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula ahead of their potential blockbuster recruitment. They will continue looking for a striker to strengthen the team as a new season approaches.

Juventus, meanwhile, will continue their FIFA Club World Cup run in the United States, and are focussed on strengthening their squad after a fourth-place Serie A finish.
