Nottingham Forest Start Talks with Hellas Verona for Jackson Tchatchoua

Nottingham Forest want to sign Hellas Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Forest have made an initial approach to Hellas Verona to sound out the deal conditions for Tchatchoua with the aim of tableing an offer worth around €12m. It has been reported that Forest have sounded out a contract offer potentially running until 2029 for the right-back. However, no formal proposal has been made yet, although there have been negotiations between both clubs.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are looking to bolster their defensive unit in preparation for the new Premier League season.

RIGHT-BACK SEARCH AND SEASON CONTEXT

Forest finished 7th in the 2023/24 Premier League season, qualifying for the UEFA Conference League. The team is looking at improving their squad for the upcoming season and added calendar.

Tchatchoua, who is a Cameroon international, impressed at Hellas Verona. His consistent performances and strong defensive skills in 32 Serie A appearances last season highlighted his potential. Verona ended their campaign in 14th place in Serie A, and selling the 23-year-old could provide them with valuable funds to rebuild their squad under manager Damian Vučić.

WHAT NEXT FOR FOREST AND VERONA?

As the season begins soon, Forest’s next opponents are Brentford who finished 11th last year. This game is an early test for Forest’s new defensive setup as they aim to strengthen their position in the league. Verona, under Vučić’s tutelage, are preparing for a challenging start to the Serie A campaign as they face Udinese on matchday one.
