Pablo Rosario Set for FC Porto Move as Deal Reached with Nice

Pablo Rosario is about to join FC Porto from Nice. The Portuguese club has an agreement for the midfielder. The 28-year-old will sign a three-year contract, with medical tests in the next two days.

WHAT HAPPENED?

FC Porto has agreed to bring in Pablo Rosario from OGC Nice for around €3 million. The deal includes personal terms with Rosario, who is ready to sign a three-year deal. Reports confirm that medical exams are set within 48 hours. An official announcement will follow soon after. Rosario, who played over 30 matches for Nice last season, was left out of their recent Champions League qualifier. This indicated his departure was near.

WHY PORTO WANTED ROSARIO

Rosario has strong experience in top football. He is known for being reliable as a defensive midfielder and can also play as a central defender. Last season for Nice, he played an important role, helping them finish well in Ligue 1. FC Porto finished third in the 2024/25 Primeira Liga season, but failed to be a real threat in the title race, and as such, they aim to improve upon this result. Improving their midfield has been crucial as they look to reclaim dominance in Portugal and make an impact in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

WHAT NEXT FOR ROSARIO AND PORTO?

If Rosario passes his medical exams, he should be officially introduced before Porto’s next league match against champions Sporting CP. FC Porto aims to not let Sporting open a gap, and will be going into the match with positive momentum and looking for a win. Rosario’s ability to play different positions is important for manager Farioli’s plans. Porto aims for a strong start in the Primeira Liga and Europe. His former team, Nice, continues their Ligue 1 campaign looking to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish.
