Paris Saint-Germain Nears €60m Agreement for Bournemouth’s Ilya Zabarnyi
Paris Saint-Germain are close to signing Bournemouth defender Ilya Zabarnyi. The negotiations are almost done, and the final agreement is expected soon.
WHAT HAPPENED?
After weeks of talks, PSG are now in the final stages of negotiations to sign Zabarnyi. The Ukrainian international has already agreed on personal terms with PSG on a contract until 2030. PSG are now focused on finalizing a fee, around €60m. Bournemouth are preparing to lose their best defender.
PSG’s title rivals Real Madrid were also interested in Zabarnyi but now are focusing on other targets such as Manchester United defender Josko Gvardiol.
ZABARNYI’S IMPACT THIS SEASON
The 22-year-old has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season. Zabarnyi played 39 times this season across all competitions, scored one goal, and provided one assist. His development in the last 12 months has been impressive and it is reflected in PSG’s willingness to spend big money on bringing him to the club.
According to a previous report we published, Zabarnyi has agreed to terms until 2030 with PSG.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR PSG AND BOURNEMOUTH
Ilya Zabarnyi was identified as one of the top targets for PSG this summer window along with left-back Juan Miranda. Now that they are closing in on bringing him to Parc des Princes, the Parisians will focus their attention on Miranda and midfield targets such as Strasbourg’s Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.
This will be another massive blow for Bournemouth who are already set to lose their second-choice goalkeeper Josh Griffiths to West Ham. They will need to sign quality players to replace their outgoing stars.
