Pau Victor Set to Join Braga in €15 Million Deal from Barcelona

SC Braga have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign striker Pau Victor for a €12 million fixed fee plus €3 million in possible add-ons. The deal also includes negotiations for a buy-back clause that would allow Barcelona to re-sign the player in the future.

TRANSFER AGREEMENT FINALIZED

Pau Victor, 23, is poised to complete a permanent move to Portuguese club Braga after limited first-team chances at Barcelona. Last season, Victor made 29 appearances for Barça but struggled for regular starts behind Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, with Marcus Rashford set to join the attack next season. According to recent updates, Barcelona signed Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan, further tightening competition for minutes.

His departure marks the latest step in the club’s efforts to balance squad space and finances by moving on young talents who face tough competition for minutes. At Braga, Victor is expected to fill the gap left by Roberto Fernandez, who recently transferred to Espanyol. Braga finished fourth in the Primeira Liga in the last season, confirming their competitive standing in the league.

BARCELONA’S STRATEGY AND VICTOR’S NEXT CHAPTER

Barcelona are insisting on a permanent transfer rather than a loan, but want to secure a buy-back option, giving them flexibility if Victor shines in Portugal. The club must also account for Girona’s 30% sell-on clause, as Victor began his career in Girona’s youth ranks.

This transfer fits a broader trend of young Barcelona players leaving for more playing time, following the exits of players including Pablo Torre, Alex Valle, and Ansu Fati this summer. For Victor, the move offers a chance to become a regular starter for a club competing for top spots in Portugal and aiming for European qualification again, as Braga will play in the Europa League qualifiers this season, where they face Levski Sofia for a spot in the group stage.

WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR BOTH TEAMS

Braga begin their 2025/26 league campaign next month after finishing 5 points behind third-place Porto last season. The team will look to Victor for extra firepower, especially since their previous top scorer has left. Victor’s arrival could help Braga close the gap to the top three and push for Champions League qualification.

For Barcelona, the sale will raise funds and free up a squad spot as they integrate Rashford. Their opening La Liga fixture is set against Mallorca, with both teams vying for positive results from the start. Both Braga and Barcelona hope the deal will be beneficial for their long-term ambitions.
