Pervis Estupiñán Set for AC Milan Move

Pervis Estupiñán is heading to Italy to join AC Milan, as confirmed by reports. He will sign a five-year contract during the move, and the deal was agreed on Monday night. Estupiñán is expected to be in Italy by Wednesday for his medical and to finalize the transfer according to sources.

WHAT HAPPENED?

AC Milan agreed with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign left-back Pervis Estupiñán for a total fee of €17 million, with an additional €2 million in add-ons as reported recently. Estupiñán will be replacing Theo Hernández, who left for Al-Hilal. He had been a regular starter for Brighton last season, playing 20 matches and scoring twice despite injuries. Estupiñán’s desire to join Milan was clear, and his agent ensured that the deal proceeded smoothly. He is set to have his medical in Italy this week before signing the contract.

WHY THIS MOVE MATTERS FOR MILAN

AC Milan needed a new left-back after losing Hernández, a key player for the team. Estupiñán’s experience from the Premier League and La Liga is expected to bolster Milan’s lineup. He has played for Villarreal, Watford, and Udinese before joining Brighton in 2022. Last season, Milan finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on European football qualification and well behind the winners, Napoli. Strengthening their defense is crucial as Milan aims to improve in both domestic and European competitions.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ESTUPIÑÁN AND THE TEAMS

Estupiñán is expected to join Milan’s preseason tour in Asia once he signs. AC Milan’s first match of the new season will be against newly-promoted Cremonese in Serie A. They will look to integrate their new left-back quickly to compete effectively with Inter and Napoli who finished at the top of the table last season. Meanwhile, Brighton, who finished 11th in the Premier League last season, will now need to seek a replacement for Estupiñán before the start of their league matches, aiming to bounce back from a challenging season.
