Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Leaves Al Qadsiah, Marseille Move Looms

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has officially left Al Qadsiah. He signed a contract termination and is near to joining Olympique Marseille. Talks are ongoing for a two-year deal.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After the end of his contract with the Saudi club, Aubameyang, who scored 21 goals and provided 3 assists in 36 matches for Al Qadsiah last season, is now a free agent as he departs the club. The path was made clear for the 36-year-old striker to leave the Pro League after just one season when Al Qadsiah chose to go in a younger way up front after announcing the purchase of Retegui from Atalanta. Olympique Marseille is currently negotiating to bring back Aubameyang as they look for seasoned goal scorers in attack for a team that is youth-oriented.

WHY MARSEILLE WANT HIM BACK

Aubameyang’s experience and leadership are reportedly being courted by head coach Roberto De Zerbi as the team gears up for both domestic and continental play. A two-year contract offer for the Gabon striker is being discussed, and conversation is said to be in an advanced stage. Marseille secured a much-anticipated comeback to the Champions League after a poor European absence in the season prior by finishing second in Ligue 1 last season.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR AUBAMEYANG AND MARSEILLE?

If conversations go well, Aubameyang might join a Marseille team eager to win matches Champions League and pose a challenge to PSG in the Ligue 1. Given that Le Havre finished in the lower half of the standings the previous season, their debut league match against Le Havre will give them the opportunity to make an impact early in the year. As Marseille works to improve both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, Aubameyang’s comeback, assuming things go through in time, can be crucial.
