Postecoglou Committed to Tottenham, Win or Lose

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says he’ll stay with the club no matter what happens in the Europa League final against Manchester United.

MANAGER STAYS DESPITE TOUGH SEASON

At a press conference, Postecoglou said he’s determined to continue with Spurs even if they win the Europa League. “My job is not done here,” he said. “I think there’s a lot still to be done.” His comments come after a tough season for Spurs, who are in 17th place in the Premier League with 21 losses.

Postecoglou has also faced criticism from some Tottenham fans and pundits during his time in charge. In April, some fans chanted “You don’t know what you’re doing” during a match against Chelsea, and some pundits have questioned why he hasn’t been sacked.

FOCUSED ON LONG-TERM PLAN

Despite the challenges, Postecoglou says he is focused on his long-term plan for the club. “I came here with some pretty clear objectives, what the priorities were at the club, and tried to stick to that process of getting the club in a position where they could challenge for trophies and rejuvenate the squad,” he said.

The Europa League final is a chance for Tottenham to win their first trophy in 17 years and their first European silverware since 1984. A victory would also guarantee them a place in the Champions League next season. Postecoglou said he is focused on the task at hand. “I’m pretty focused on giving this football club the best opportunity to do something special,” he said.

BIG FINAL AWAITS TOTTENHAM

Tottenham face Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao on Wednesday evening (8pm UK time). Postecoglou will be without several key players, but Pape Matar Sarr has been declared fit after being substituted with back pain in Friday’s defeat to Aston Villa.

Victory would end Tottenham’s trophy drought and mark a turning point in Postecoglou’s time at the club. He has previously spoken about his track record of winning trophies in his second year at every club he’s managed.

Postecoglou said he is committed to staying at Spurs, win or lose. The manager, who has already implemented his distinctive “Angeball” style of play, is hoping to build a team capable of consistently challenging for trophies.
