Postecoglou Wants to Keep Winning With Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou wants to stay at Tottenham Hotspur after leading the team to a big win in the Europa League. This ended their 17-year wait for a trophy.
ENDING THE LONG WAIT
Postecoglou did what many before him couldn’t. He gave Tottenham their first trophy since 2008. Spurs beat Manchester United in the Europa League final, finally giving fans something to cheer about. This win ended years of disappointment and secured Champions League football for Tottenham next season, even though their Premier League season wasn’t great.
ANGE’S WINNING DRIVE
After the big win, Postecoglou talked about his winning drive. He said, “I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t keep going like this. Mate, I’m a winner. I’ve been a winner my whole career.” The 59-year-old Australian has a track record of winning trophies in his second season at clubs. When asked about his future, he said he doesn’t think his job at Tottenham is done. “I don’t feel I have completed the job. We’re still building,” he stated.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Postecoglou knows there’s more work to do. “We’re still building this team. It’s a young team. We need to add experience, and now we are in the Champions League,” he said. He wants more than just quick success. “I’ve been trying to build a team that can be challenging for the next four or five years,” he explained. With Champions League qualification, Tottenham will have more resources and pull to bring in new players during the summer transfer window.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR SPURS?
Now that Spurs have won in Europe, they’re looking to do better in the Premier League. They finished 6th this season, a huge 15 points behind champions Manchester City and 8 points off the Champions League spots. They’ll want to close that gap next season while handling Champions League games. The club has a better idea of their future now, with Postecoglou wanting to keep working on the project he started in north London last year.
