PSG Land Young Goalkeeper Renato Marin from Roma on Five-Year Deal

Paris Saint-Germain have signed Brazilian-born goalkeeper Renato Marin from AS Roma. The highly-rated youngster joins on a five-year deal, keeping him in the French capital until 2030.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Renato Marin refused a contract extension at Roma and signed with PSG as a free agent. The 19-year-old Brazilian-born goalkeeper boasts Italian citizenship and has represented Italy at youth level since moving to Roma in 2022. Marin signed with PSG today (July 17, 2025) and will start as the team’s third-choice goalkeeper, alongside first-choice Gianluigi Donnarumma. The club were delighted with the acquisition and highlighted Marin’s potential for the future.

YOUNG TALENT TO BOOST PSG SQUAD

Marin’s arrival adds youth and depth to a PSG squad that continues to push for domestic and European success. Last season, PSG won another Ligue 1 title, defeating Monaco 2-0 in the final match, and reached the ultimate goal of lifting the Champions League trophy. The new signing will learn under first-choice goalkeeper Donnarumma and develop at one of Europe’s top clubs. Despite not making a senior appearance for Roma, Marin built a reputation as a reliable shot-stopper in youth competitions and sparked interest from across Europe.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR PSG AND THE PLAYER?

Marin will be eager to impress PSG chiefs when he joins preseason training. The teenager will be eyeing an opportunity to start in the team’s domestic cup matches. PSG will open the upcoming Ligue 1 season at home to Nantes after playing the European Supercup against Tottenham and will aim to keep rivals Marseille and Monaco at bay in the title race. For the time being, Marin is set to deputise the established first-choice goalkeeper at the Parisians but will hope to gain more game-time in future campaigns.
