PSG Pursue River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) wants to sign Franco Mastantuono from River Plate. They are trying to act fast before other big European clubs can sign the promising young player from Argentina.
WHAT’S THE LATEST?
In recent weeks, PSG have held advanced talks with River Plate and Mastantuono’s representatives. The French giants are determined to complete the deal before there is increased competition for the young midfielder. It has been reported that PSG manager Luis Enrique has personally spoken with Mastantuono over the long-term project in Paris.
RISING TENSION IN THE TRANSFER MARKET
With several European powerhouses keeping tabs on Mastantuono, PSG hope to secure the move as soon as possible. Real Madrid’s reluctance to match River Plate’s asking price could allow PSG to wrap up the deal in a matter of days. The Ligue 1 champions need only match the player’s release clause of €40-41 million (£35.5-36.4m/$44-46m) to complete the signing of the midfielder, who has scored five goals and provided three assists in all competitions this season.
WHAT NEXT FOR PSG AND MASTANTUONO?
Should PSG complete the move, Mastantuono will remain with River Plate until he turns 18 in August before eventually joining his new club. The Paris-based club is already preparing for the new Ligue 1 season which gets under way in August.
