Paris Saint-Germain is worried about Ousmane Dembélé’s fitness after he got injured against Arsenal. The injury doesn’t seem serious, but more tests will decide if he can play in next week’s second leg in Paris.

WHAT HAPPENED IN LONDON?

Dembélé scored the only goal in PSG’s 1-0 win over Arsenal. However, he was substituted in the 70th minute with a suspected hamstring issue. While the player did not limp off, his injury will be assessed on Tuesday morning

Initial examinations did not suggest a significant problem, but PSG have decided to take further action with the club battling in two competitions for the rest of the season.

Manager Luis Enrique knows how important Dembélé is to PSG and admitted he was ‘concerned’ by his withdrawal.

WHAT LUIS ENRIQUE SAID

The PSG coach told Canal Plus: “What I think, unfortunately, is no news, we’ll have to wait for the test tomorrow morning and find out the extent of it. A hamstring is very important, we’re in a tight run of games, I’m concerned, but unfortunately I don’t have the solution tonight. Hamstring is the kind of injury where you have to wait for the tests.”

HOW MANY GAMES DEMBELE COULD MISS

Dembélé will miss Wednesday’s second leg against Arsenal but will hope to be available for the next round. However, if the injury is severe, then he may be sidelined for at least four weeks, thereby ruling him out of any Champions League games PSG play.

A tier 1 injury typically requires around two to four weeks to recover according to the French media and with the semi-finals of the Champions League taking place in that period, Dembélé may not be involved in any of the ties should Arsenal fail to keep control of the hamstring injury.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

Mikel Arteta’s men are trailing United in the Premier League and will hope for a response from their players in the upcoming matches. Arsenal play Aston Villa on Saturday in the league before taking on PSG in the crucial second-leg clash next Wednesday.
