PSV Eindhoven Win Race To Sign Stoke City’s Sol Sidibe

PSV Eindhoven have agreed to sign young midfielder Sol Sidibe from Stoke City. The 18-year-old is set to sign a contract until June 2029 after his medical.

WHAT HAPPENED?

PSV Eindhoven have finalized a deal with Stoke City for Sol Sidibe. The young player will sign a four-year contract with the Dutch club after his medical this week. PSV beat several Premier League teams that were also interested in Sidibe. He chose PSV because he trusts their plan for his development.

The transfer fee is said to be between €2.5 million and €5 million. However, the exact amount has not been confirmed. Sidibe will join a strong group of new players at PSV. They recently secured a deal for Kiliann Sildillia from SC Freiburg for €5.8 million plus €200,000 in bonuses, enhancing their ambitions as they aim to defend their Dutch league title next season. Kiliann Sildillia’s signing is a significant move for the club.

SIDIBE’S RISE AND PSV’S AMBITIONS

Sidibe played in 12 games for Stoke City last season in the English Championship, gaining important experience. He is also an England youth international, having represented both the U17 and U18 national teams.

PSV Eindhoven finished last season as the Eredivisie champions, finishing 2 points ahead at the top after overtaking Ajax in the 2 last matchdays of the campaign. They scored the most goals and had the best defense, showing their strength in the league. With Sidibe and other new players, PSV wants to keep dominating the league and do better in European competitions this year.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR PSV AND SIDIBE?

Sidibe will complete his medical this week before joining PSV officially. He is expected to start with Jong PSV, the club’s second team playing in the Eerste Divisie. PSV’s first team begins their league campaign in mid-August.

They aim to stay ahead of rivals like Feyenoord and Ajax, who finished second and third last season. Sidibe’s progress will be watched closely. If he plays well, he might join the first team quickly. Stoke City, who finished in the lower half of the Championship last season, lose another young talent but hope to improve their squad for the new season.
