Rasmus Højlund Signs for Napoli in Major Summer Move
Napoli have signed Rasmus Højlund on a one-year loan from Manchester United. The deal could make him stay in Serie A for a long time.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Rasmus Højlund joins Napoli on a €6 million loan for the 2025/26 season. They have an option to sign him permanently for €45 million if they qualify for the Champions League next season. The 22-year-old failed to impress at United after signing from Atalanta in 2023, where he scored 10 goals in 34 matches before his move. Despite having a challenging time at United, he still managed to score 26 goals in 95 appearances across all competitions and won the FA Cup two seasons ago. Napoli, who finished first in Serie A last season, are keen to add to their firepower as they begin another European campaign under Antonio Conte as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
WHY THIS MOVE MATTERS
Napoli have ambitious goals after winning the title last season, and they continued their Serie A title defense by winning their two opening matches this season. Antonio Conte’s side wants to be stronger in attack, and Højlund could help them with his goalscoring record and big-game experience. He scored 11 goals in just 17 Champions League starts for Juventus. Despite a tough period in the Premier League, scoring only six goals for Manchester United last season, Napoli hope he can regain his Atalanta form in Italy according to reports.
NEXT STEPS AND UPCOMING FIXTURES
Højlund will replace Victor Osimhen, who left the club and Lukaku who will be injured for around 3 months.
