RC Strasbourg Complete Signing of Joaquín Panichelli from Alavés for €16 Million

RC Strasbourg have signed Argentine striker Joaquín Panichelli from Deportivo Alavés for €16 million. This is one of the club’s biggest moves of the summer, as Strasbourg has reached a full agreement for the transfer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

All documents for Panichelli‘s move to Strasbourg have been signed, and the club will announce it soon. The French team acted fast to get the 21-year-old after his great performances in Spain. Panichelli will sign a five-year deal and travel to France this weekend to join his new team. Strasbourg moved quickly to beat other clubs and get a player they see as key for their future plans.

PANICHELLI’S BREAKOUT SEASON AND STRASBOURG’S PURPOSE

Panichelli had a great season, spending last season on loan at Mirandés where he scored 20 league goals in the Spanish second division. His performances convinced Strasbourg’s leadership to invest in the young striker as part of their plan to build around emerging talent. The club finished in the last European competition spot last season in Ligue 1, improving especially in the second half. Their goal now is to compete more strongly in the league and aim for a higher finish, closing the gap to the European spots.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR STRASBOURG?

Strasbourg will try to integrate Panichelli quickly as they get ready for the opening game of the new Ligue 1 season. They will face Metz, who finished just above the relegation zone last season. Strasbourg ended the previous season in 7th place, and the added calendar and visibility in the Conference League may prove essential for its young squad. Both teams will aim for a strong start, as they look to climb the table and aim for European qualification. Panichelli is expected to bring new energy and goal-scoring ability to Strasbourg’s attack as they aim for higher goals this season, following a plan stated by the club to aim for a higher finish in Ligue 1 this season.
