Real Madrid Agrees £50M Deal for 19-Year-Old Spanish International

Real Madrid have reached a £50 million agreement with Bournemouth to sign 19-year-old Spanish centre-back Dean Huijsen, with the defender already undergoing a medical ahead of completing his move to Xabi Alonso’s team.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Xabi Alonso sees Huijsen as the perfect centre-back signing for Real Madrid‘s current and future plans and pushed Los Blancos to pull off a rapid deal for the Spanish international. Real Madrid were able to beat major competition from the Premier League for Huijsen’s signature with a fast negotiation in order to boost their centre-back ranks before the start of the Club World Cup, with the new signing expected to join the squad for the competition.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Bournemouth‘s Huijsen, 19, has already made his international debut for Spain. The former Juventus wonderkid has taken the Premier League by storm this season and it is believed he even rejected the Gunners to join Los Blancos. Bournemouth had sensibly installed a £70m release clause in his contract but Madrid managed to negotiate the fee down to £50m.

WHAT NEXT FOR REAL MADRID?

With Fiorini, Krjauklis and now Huijsen, Madrid have the centre-backs of the future. Alonso has evidently put his faith in the youth and Real Madrid will hope they are set for a period of sustained success under the Spaniard.
