Real Madrid Block Ancelotti’s Brazil Move Over Financial Dispute

Real Madrid are stopping Carlo Ancelotti’s move to Brazil’s national team. The deal was almost done, but Madrid don’t want to pay an exit fee for his contract.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Ancelotti and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) recently agreed verbally on a contract. But Real Madrid weren’t told, causing issues.

Madrid are now blocking the move, refusing to pay the remaining contract that lasts until June 2026.

CBF officials are in Madrid to solve the problem but are careful not to pressure Ancelotti. Some reports say that Brazil has ended talks because of the contract complications.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

This problem occurs during a tough season for Real Madrid under Ancelotti. They were knocked out by Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals and lost to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.

they trail Barcelona by four points in La Liga with five games left.

Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers in Real Madrid’s history, winning three Champions League and two La Liga titles. Brazil wanted him for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America and their June friendlies against Ecuador and Paraguay.

WHAT NEXT FOR BOTH PARTIES?

Real Madrid wants Ancelotti to focus on the rest of the La Liga season and coach in the Club World Cup this summer. They have a big Clásico match against Barcelona on May 11, which could close the gap if Madrid wins.

Brazil is in a tough spot. They need to submit their player list for June friendlies by May 18. If Ancelotti’s deal falls through, reports say Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus has become the favorite to take over the team.

Brazil hasn’t had a permanent manager since firing Dorival Junior in March after a 4-1 loss to Argentina in World Cup qualifying. The five-time world champions need to regroup quickly as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
