Real Madrid to Decide Soon on Nico Paz’s Future

Real Madrid will soon decide on Argentine midfielder Nico Paz’s future. They might activate an €8 million buy-back clause for him.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Spanish team is discussing if they should bring back the 20-year-old after his great season at Como in Serie A. Paz moved to Italy for about €6 million last summer, but Madrid can buy him back for €8 million. This option is smart because the price goes up to €9 million if they wait until 2026.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

In Italy, Nico Paz did very well under Como manager Cesc Fabregas. He played 35 games, scored six goals, and made nine assists. These performances won him the Best U23 Player award in Serie A. Many clubs are interested in him, including Inter Milan, but Madrid can get him first.

Real Madrid’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, is part of the talks. Some reports say he wants Paz back at the club. This is important for Madrid because they are preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup starting on June 15, and they might need more midfield players.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR PAZ?

If Real Madrid activate the buy-back clause, Paz will return to his old team. Then, he might get a chance to play in the first team under Xabi Alonso. Before moving to Italy, he found it tough to get into Madrid’s lineup, but his time at Como has improved his chances.

Como are back in Serie A after promotion and want to keep the talented midfielder for one more season. Earlier in March, reports said the clubs agreed to extend his loan, but Madrid’s interest in activating the buy-back clause has changed things.

Paz’s agents will meet with Real Madrid officials this week. This meeting could decide if he will play in La Liga or stay in Serie A next season.
