Richarlison’s Double Leads Tottenham to Win in Opener

Richarlison started the Premier League season with a bang, scoring twice as Tottenham beat Burnley 3-0. The Brazilian chose to stay at the club despite transfer offers. He now looks ready to fight for a place under new manager Thomas Frank.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Tottenham faced Burnley in their first league game of the season. Richarlison scored after 10 minutes thanks to a cross from new player Mohammed Kudus. He added another before halftime as Spurs attacked relentlessly.

Tottenham controlled the match. Kudus impressed on his debut, setting up Richarlison’s goal. Burnley struggled to create chances and barely troubled the Tottenham defense.

STRONG START FOR TOTTENHAM AND RICHARLISON

Tottenham began the season well after missing out on the Champions League last year. Richarlison had a tough campaign with just four league goals. His two today suggest better form is coming.

Tottenham finished one spot outside the top half in seventeenth place last season. Burnley are back in the Premier League after gaining promotion from the Championship, and Kudus’ bright display also gave fans hope for more attacking flair.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?

Next, Tottenham visit title favourites Manchester City, who finished 3rd last season. Tottenham lead the table on goal difference over Liverpool after this win. With Richarlison scoring and new players bedding in, Spurs look a force once more. Tottenham also hopes to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, as reported previously.
