WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Serie A clubs are showing interest in Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, with the player reportedly being given a “trial” under new head coach Ruben Amorim. Reports indicate that Amorim may be open to selling Højlund during the summer transfer window.

Despite Manchester United signing Højlund for €85 million less than two years ago, reports from the Mirror claim that Amorim might let the player leave for around €46 million this summer after the striker managed only nine goals in 19 appearances this season. However, there is no explicit confirmation from Amorim or Manchester United about the quoted sale price or the term “trial.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

It is being reported that Ruben Amorim is planning to reshape his attacking options at Manchester United. Vincent Aboubakar has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, while Marcus Thuram’s unlikely exit from Inter Milan adds pressure to strengthen the forward line. Amorim has also reportedly struggled with the current performance levels of some players, and bringing in a new striker has become a key priority.

WHAT NEXT FOR HØJLUND?

Serie A clubs, including Napoli, AC Milan, and Inter Milan, are reportedly interested in signing Højlund. This potential move back to Italy follows the player’s former stint at Atalanta, where he performed well and garnered attention before his move to Manchester United. Romano has confirmed that Serie A teams are closely monitoring Højlund’s situation at Old Trafford.
