Shakhtar Donetsk Agree Deal to Sign Isaque from Fluminense
Shakhtar Donetsk have reached an agreement to sign Brazilian midfielder Isaque Severino Silva from Fluminense for a fee of €10 million plus €2 million in add-ons. The player is now traveling to complete his medical and sign his contract with the Ukrainian club.
SHOOTING STAR LEAVES FLUMINENSE
Isaque, a product of Fluminense’s renowned Xerém academy, will continue his career in Europe after just 11 senior matches for the Brazilian club. Negotiations between the two clubs moved quickly over the weekend. Shakhtar improved their offer from earlier bids to meet Fluminense’s conditions, including a fixed €10 million fee and potential add-ons. Fluminense will also retain a percentage on any future sale, as well as a preference clause if Isaque returns to Brazil. The 19-year-old, who helped Fluminense’s youth team win both the Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro under-17 in 2024, said goodbye to his teammates before the move.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR FLUMINENSE AND SHAKHTAR
Fluminense, currently sitting sixth in the Brazilian Série A table as confirmed by recent updates, have now lost one of their brightest young prospects as they chase a top-four finish. Isaque’s first team chances had become limited this season, especially after new signings strengthened the midfield. Shakhtar Donetsk, meanwhile, finished as clear winners in the Ukrainian Premier League last season and are currently first in the league after three matches this season, looking to use Isaque to bolster their midfield options as they aim to reclaim the domestic title and make an impact in European competitions according to recent reports.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR ISACQUE AND THE CLUBS?
Isaque is expected to complete his medical and officially sign for Shakhtar Donetsk in the coming days. They currently trail league leaders Dynamo Kyiv by just two points. Fluminense will look to minimize the loss by promoting further talent from Xerém and focusing on their next match against Internacional, who are positioned just below them in the standings. Both clubs have high hopes their next steps this season will keep them moving forward on and off the pitch.
