Snoop Dogg Joins Swansea City Ownership Group in Major Global Move

American superstar Snoop Dogg is set to announce that he has joined Swansea City’s ownership group, marking a huge moment for the club and taking it to a whole new level on a global scale.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Championship club currently part-owned by Luka Modric are set to announce another major name joining their ownership in the form of American superstar Snoop Dogg. The rapper and pop culture icon has a social media reach of over 190 million and simply announced the news on his Instagram. He becomes the second major investor of the year at the club, following Modric’s arrival earlier in 2025, and will take a personal investment in the Liberty Stadium-based side.

Snoop Dogg is an 18-time Grammy-nominated rapper, a one-time Golden Globe nominee who first received recognition for his 1992 debut album Doggystyle. He is one of a host of famous fans of football, claiming allegiance to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, while also being pictured in the colours of various other teams, and now he has taken the enormous step of becoming involved at senior ownership level with Swansea.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR SWANSEA

This eye-watering move comes as Swansea attempt to regain their stature after finishing 14th in the 2024-25 EFL Championship season. The club from Landore, a neighbourhood in Swansea, has found it difficult to maintain consistency in recent years despite having a squad of players that has outperformed expectations at times in recent seasons. They finished nine points behind sixth-placed Sunderland in the regular season this spring and six points above 21st-placed Southampton, indicating that playoffs are still a far-fetched goal for them. The club’s present ownership, headed by chairman Andy Coleman, seems to be seeking a fresh start by bringing in well-known figures Snoop Dogg and Modric, in the hopes of seeing improved team performances both on and off the pitch.

WHAT NEXT?

Swansea begin their 2025-26 campaign next month and will want to start strong as they try to push for a return to the Premier League. Swansea will have a fantastic starting point for their season thanks to this fantastic opportunity to defeat a former Premier League opponent. In addition, the team has undergone significant changes in recent months as a result of two major names joining the ownership group. Now the focus will be on-on field performances as Swansea aim to be in the top half of the table this season, rising as a real dark horse in the Championship, potentially heading for their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
