Southampton Near Deal for Leo Scienza from Heidenheim

Southampton are close to signing Brazilian winger Leo Scienza. The player wants to join the English Championship team and has agreed on personal terms.

AGREEMENT CLOSE FOR SCIENZA

The 26-year-old attacker has told his club, Heidenheim, that he wants to move to England. Southampton have made progress in talks and have agreed on personal terms with the player. The two clubs are still discussing the transfer fee as they try to finalize the deal before Monday’s transfer deadline. Reports say Heidenheim will accept a fee in the mid-single-digit millions because Scienza is under contract until 2027.

SCIENZA’S IMPACT AND BACKGROUND

Scienza made a name for himself at SSV Ulm before joining Heidenheim and has had a strong season in Germany’s top division. He has scored six goals and provided eight assists in 37 games for Heidenheim, helping them compete in a difficult Bundesliga season. He is seen as a creative and quick option on the wing, qualities Southampton have been looking for. The Saints’ German leaders know Scienza well and have been following his progress since his move to the Bundesliga.

SOUTHAMPTON’S SEASON SO FAR AND WHAT’S NEXT

Southampton are pushing for promotion back to the Premier League after finishing just outside the automatic promotion spots last season. They are currently 15th in the Championship after two matches, just one point above the relegation zone as per recent reports. The team’s next match is a big game against mid-table Plymouth Argyle, who have shown they can take points off the top teams. If the Scienza deal goes through, he could soon play an important role as Southampton look for a boost in their promotion push.
