Sporting CP President Says Viktor Gyökeres Won’t Be Sold Cheap

Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has clearly stated that Viktor Gyökeres won’t leave for €60 million plus €10 million in add-ons. This is bad news for Premier League clubs hoping to sign the Swedish forward for less money.

Sporting CP demand more than €60 million for Viktor Gyökeres.

WHAT VARANDAS SAID

With many rumors about Viktor Gyökeres’s future, Varandas publicly stated he won’t reveal the exact price, but the forward “won’t leave for €60m plus €10m, he just won’t”. This clear message comes as both Manchester United and Arsenal want to sign Gyökeres after his fantastic season in Portugal. Despite interest from top clubs and ideas of a “gentlemen’s agreement” for a summer move, Sporting have a firm position on the minimum price for their striker.

Sporting CP is holding out for Viktor Gyökeres’ full €100 million release clause.

SPORTING’S STANCE AND GYÖKERES’S IMPACT

Gyökeres had an amazing year with Sporting, scoring often and becoming one of Europe’s best attacking talents. His contract reportedly has a €100 million release clause and still has three years left, giving Sporting a strong negotiating position. There are reports that the 27-year-old would be unhappy if kept against his wishes, but Varandas has dismissed concerns, saying the club “does not need to sell” and will only consider a price they think is fair.

According to Viktor Gyökeres scored 54 goals in 52 matches for Sporting CP in the 2024/25 season.

LOOKING AHEAD: SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW

As the summer transfer window continues, it’s unclear if any club will meet Sporting’s demands or if Gyökeres will stay in Lisbon. Sporting are expected to start pre-season soon and, for now, are firm. Meanwhile, Manchester United and Arsenal need to rethink their approach if they want to sign the prolific Swedish striker before the new season. Sporting’s first league match is in August, and the club wants clarity on their striker’s situation before the season begins.
