Strasbourg Secure Maxi Oyedele Transfer from Legia Warsaw

RC Strasbourg have completed the signing of Maxi Oyedele from Legia Warsaw. They paid his €6 million release clause. Oyedele passed his medical exams today and signed a contract until June 2030.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Strasbourg, owned by the BlueCo group, activated the €6 million release clause for Oyedele. They did this to get the Poland international from Legia Warsaw to Ligue 1. Oyedele was born in Salford and grew up in the Manchester United academy. After passing his medical exams, he will soon join Strasbourg. Manchester United will get 40% of the transfer fee due to a sell-on clause in his previous deal.

WHY OYEDELE IS IMPORTANT FOR STRASBOURG

Oyedele stood out in European play last season. His strong performance against Chelsea in the Conference League impressed many big clubs. Oyedele is now set to play a key role as a defensive midfielder for Strasbourg. His presence strengthens a squad that had a tough Ligue 1 campaign. Last season, Strasbourg finished 7th, and will play the qualifiers for the Conference League this season. The team struggled defensively and conceded 44 goals and hopes Oyedele’s energy and skills will bring stability to the midfield.

According to a previous report, Strasbourg finished 7th place in Ligue 1 last season.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR STRASBOURG AND OYEDELE

Oyedele will join preseason training right away. This is ahead of Strasbourg’s Ligue 1 opener against Metz, who finished the Ligue 2 last season as one of the teams getting promoted. Strasbourg wants to stay far away from the bottom of the table. Their schedule is tough at the start of the season. Fans hope their new player will make an immediate impact. The club aims to climb the standings and secure their place much sooner this year.

Strasbourg will compete in the Europa Conference League next season, as confirmed by a previous report.
