Stuttgart Agree Deal for Tiago Tomas Return from Wolfsburg

Stuttgart will bring Tiago Tomas back from Wolfsburg for €13m. Stuttgart’s top striker Chris Diederich underwent knee surgery, and the club was in the market for backup in the final third. Tomas had been on loan at Stuttgart and returns after rejecting offers from Saudi Arabia.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Stuttgart were interested in Bayern Munich forward Lucas Copado before switching their attention to Tomas. Tomas played for Stuttgart and knows the club well. The Wolves are happy to sell a player that performed better at other teams, as they try to trim the team for the upcoming season.

WHAT DID THE MANAGER SAY?

Manager Bodzer said: “After his long injury lay-off, Jaden Williams is still not in the condition to play 90 minutes week after week. And although we have several options up front, it’s always difficult when we have to adjust our system due to an injury and find adequate replacements. The loan also gives us the option to sign a player who knows his responsibilities and therefore doesn’t need a settling-in period, so it’s a very logical decision.”

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR WOLVES?

Tomas is joining a team that finished in the top half of the Bundesliga last season and won the German Cup, starting the season in a team that, he hopes, will provide the jump in his career after leaving Sporting as a teenager looking for the next step in his career.
