Szczęsny Embraces Backup Role at Barcelona Behind Joan García

Wojciech Szczęsny is happy to be Joan García’s backup at Barcelona. He fully supports the team’s new starting goalkeeper.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Szczęsny said his job is to help Joan García, who is Barcelona‘s main goalkeeper. He returned to pro football with a one-year deal and an option for another year.

Szczęsny helps García get ready for important games. He wants García to improve, even though the Polish veteran thinks García is already one of Europe’s best goalkeepers.

While Szczęsny’s new contract with Barcelona is not official yet, the team believes it will be done soon, and that Szczęsny will be the backup for this season.

BARCELONA’S GOALKEEPING CHANGES

Barcelona’s goalkeeping changed a lot this summer. Joan García, who was signed from Espanyol, impressed the manager and became the starter.

Szczęsny is ready to back him up, but Marc-André ter Stegen’s future is uncertain. He was the main goalkeeper for many years. The manager, Hansi Flick, will talk with Ter Stegen about whether he will stay and fight for his spot or leave the team. Iñaki Peña is also a backup option even though he was loaned out.

This season, Barcelona are currently second in La Liga with 10 points from four matches. They are 2 points behind leaders Real Madrid. García is the starter, and Szczęsny has played only in two Copa del Rey games so far.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BARCELONA?

Barcelona’s next game is against Getafe in La Liga. Barça are second and have 10 points. Getafe is level on points.

Winning would help Barcelona get closer to Real Madrid and stay ahead of Atletico. García is set to start again, and Szczęsny will guide him.

People want to know if Ter Stegen will accept his new role or leave before the transfer window ends. García will try to keep up his excellent performances, like the ones he had at Espanyol with big saves and clean sheets.
