Tammy Abraham Set to Join Besiktas in €20 Million Deal
Besiktas have reached a verbal agreement with AS Roma to sign English striker Tammy Abraham on a permanent transfer, with the deal reportedly worth around €20 million. Abraham has accepted the move and preparations are underway for his arrival in Turkey.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 27-year-old striker spent the past season on loan at AC Milan. But he’s now preparing to join Besiktas after being told he is not part of Roma’s new coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans. Abraham scored 10 goals and provided seven assists for Milan, helping them win the Italian Super Cup, but Milan decided not to make his move permanent. With Roma in urgent need of funds to meet Financial Fair Play requirements, an agreement was quickly reached with Besiktas. The paperwork is now being finalized. Abraham will fill the gap left by Ciro Immobile, who is set to leave Besiktas this summer.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Abraham’s transfer resolves a big financial challenge for Roma. They needed to raise €13 million by June 30 to comply with UEFA Financial Fair Play guidelines. Since joining Roma from Chelsea in 2021, Abraham has scored 37 goals and provided 13 assists in 120 games, playing a key role in their 2021/22 Europa Conference League triumph. He now joins a Besiktas side led by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is rebuilding after a disappointing Super Lig campaign. Besiktas finished fourth in the Süper Lig this season.
A previous report confirmed that Besiktas finished fourth in the Super Lig this season.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Abraham is expected to undergo a medical and finalize his contract with Besiktas within days. He will be a key player in the team as they prepare for the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. Besiktas begin their 2025/26 season with a big match and big season, determined to improve on last season’s 4th-place finish. The team finished last season two points behind Samsunspor in 4th and ahead of Istanbul Basaksehir in 5th.
According to a previous report, Besiktas finished the 2024/25 season 4th in the Turkish Super Lig.
Tammy Abraham’s arrival is a key step in their ambitions to secure a top-four place and European football for the following year.
