Thomas Frank Rules Out Departures, Confirms Bissouma Remains at Spurs

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank does not expect any players to leave now. He confirmed Yves Bissouma will stay with the squad.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Before Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup game against Paris Saint-Germain, Frank said, “I will be surprised if anyone is leaving us now, so… Bissouma is part of the squad.” This is after lots of talk about players leaving during the late summer transfer window. Bissouma, who was in trouble for being late and was left out of the squad for discipline before, has Frank’s support. The manager talked about keeping the squad steady and making sure players focus on the season ahead.

SEASON SO FAR: TOTTENHAM AND BISSOUMA

Tottenham wants to add to their good start after winning last season’s Europa League. They are currently third in the Premier League, winning three of their first four matches, level on points with Bournemouth, Arsenal and Liverpool, with the last team one game less played. Bissouma, the Malian midfielder, has begun all league matches so far, averaging 87 minutes a game. He is praised for his energy and passing, helping Spurs control the midfield in recent wins over Aston Villa and West Ham United.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SPURS AND BISSOUMA?

Spurs face one of their toughest games of the season next. They have just beaten West Ham in the Premier League and will play Villarreal next for their opening match in the Champions League on Tuesday. In the league, Tottenham will next travel to face Brighton, with the two sides with European ambitions this season. Bissouma is expected to be in the squad for both important games, likely playing a big role as Spurs aim to keep up their good form in both domestic and European competition.
