Tottenham Beat Burnley 3-0 In Thomas Frank’s First Game

Tottenham started their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win over promoted Burnley at Hotspur Park to end a two-game winless run in all competitions on the opening weekend of a Premier League season.

WHAT HAPPENED

A confident start to the season sees Spurs top the league after the first matchday. Tottenham dominated the first half and went into the break with a two-goal lead thanks to finishes from Richarlison who, with his 2 goals today, has already halved last season’s record, with only 1 match played.

Thomas Frank’s team maintained their pressure after the break, stopping Burnley from kicking straight into gear. Any hopes of a Clarets comeback were squashed by Richarlison’s second after the hour mark as Spurs opened up with a deserved victory.

Burnley, on the other hand, finds themselves in a precarious situation, as they need to regroup after their loss, with plans to start with improvements in defense, their strongest point last season. Their survival chase is very much on, and it could be a very different story in a few weeks’ time.
