Tottenham Hotspur Make Kevin Danso Signing Permanent After Successful Loan
Tottenham Hotspur have made Kevin Danso’s move from Lens permanent. They activated the buy option in his loan deal. The transfer costs €25 million, and Danso has signed a five-year deal with Spurs.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Danso, who plays for Austria, joined Spurs on loan from Lens in January. His performance convinced Tottenham to buy him permanently. Although he played only 10 Premier League games due to injuries, Danso was part of the squad that won the Europa League. This made him an important addition to Tottenham’s defense.
The deal is worth up to £21 million, and Danso is signed until 2030.
TOTTENHAM’S SEASON AND DANSO’S IMPACT
Tottenham ended the 2024/25 season with a Europa League title and a fourth-place finish in the Premier League. This secured their spot in next season’s Champions League. Danso joined at a crucial time, as Spurs faced a busy schedule and injuries. While he had limited appearances, he proved his ability in important matches.
He gave manager Ange Postecoglou a strong option at centre-back. Spurs hope that a full pre-season and improved fitness will allow Danso to take on a bigger role.
WHAT LIES AHEAD?
Tottenham’s focus is now on preparing for the new season and adjusting the squad. Several players have left, including Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon, and Timo Werner, along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg moving to Marseille.
Spurs will face Chelsea in the Premier League opener. Danso is expected to compete for a starting spot and could be a key player in Tottenham’s domestic and European ambitions.
