Tottenham Secure Randal Kolo Muani on Loan from PSG
Tottenham Hotspur have signed striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. The French forward will spend the rest of the season with Spurs, adding to their attacking options after their recent struggles in front of goal.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Spurs have agreed a deal which will see Kolo Muani at the club until the end of the season. There is no purchase option included, meaning he will return to PSG at the end of the campaign. Reports suggest that Tottenham has been actively pursuing Kolo Muani to enhance their attacking strength.
The 26-year-old was signed to PSG in 2022 for £50 million ($60.1m). However, he has struggled for form since returning from loan last season and has been plagued by injuries this campaign, managing only 5 goals and 2 assists in 20 league games last season before moving to Juventus on loan.
Kolo Muani’s recent resurgence in form has raised hopes of a solution being found, but it is clear that he does not figure in Luis Enrique’s long-term plans for the club. He will now play under Thomas Frank in North London.
CHOICES FOR TOTTENHAM
Spurs have been looking to add more firepower to their attack in the running, with several players linked to the club. As reported, Tottenham is aiming to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the Premier League transfer window closing.
Paolo Dybala has also been linked with a transfer, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, although there has been no formal approach made for the Argentine forward. Instead, they have opted to sign Kolo Muani on loan as they look to secure a top-four finish.
NEW TOTTENHAM SIGNING MEETS REDS STAR
While Tottenham plot their first-team plans for the remainder of the campaign, they are also considering their options in the youth ranks.
Spurs are close to signing Reds prospect Alan Carvalho, who recently had a trial at Anfield. The teenager’s parent club cannot offer him first-team football, so he is looking for a permanent move away from Brazil.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR HARRY KANE?
The arrival of Kolo Muani may raise questions about Richarlison’s future at the club. The Brazilian forward struggled for form earlier in the season and has been linked with a move away from Spurs following reports that he declined to sign a new contract.
However, Richarlison has since regained his top form and has been in excellent goal-scoring form in recent weeks. He has also revived his partnership with Kolo Muani on the pitch, which will make him hard to displace in the starting XI. Kolo Muani’s arrival does not appear to jeopardize Richarlison’s role at Tottenham for the time being, although it remains to be seen how the new signing affects his thinking in the long term.
