Tottenham Stand Firm as Atletico Madrid Pursue Cuti Romero

Tottenham Hotspur say Cristian Romero is key to their future plans. Atletico Madrid want him, but Tottenham do not plan to sell their top defender this summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Atletico Madrid want to improve their defence after doing poorly in the Club World Cup. Their manager Diego Simeone likes Romero and hopes to sign him. But Tottenham have not received a formal transfer bid. Romero has not agreed terms with any team.

A previous report confirmed that Atletico Madrid have been eliminated from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the group stage.

WHY ROMERO IS SO IMPORTANT TO SPURS

Romero has two years left on his contract and is one of Tottenham’s best players. Last season, he played more than 3,000 minutes and scored four goals in the Premier League. Coach Thomas Frank considers Romero the foundation of his team. Spurs cannot afford to lose him now.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM AND ATLETICO?

Tottenham are preparing to return to the Champions League. However, they want to keep everything calm for now. Unless Atletico make a record bid, Romero is expected to stay.

A previous report confirmed that Tottenham have qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
