Trent Alexander-Arnold Forced Off With Injury as Dani Carvajal Steps In

Trent Alexander-Arnold left the field with an injury, replaced by Dani Carvajal at a key moment. This is worrying for Liverpool and England as the defender is a key player for club and country.

WHY DID ALEXANDER-ARNOLD COME OFF?

Late on in the clash with Manchester United, Alexander-Arnold appeared to suffer a muscle injury, sitting down and signalling he needed to come off. He was replaced by Real Madrid defender Carvajal – in the squad as part of the tournament’s ‘guest-player’ rule – while medical staff cared for him.

Initial reports suggest that Alexander-Arnold may be out for up to six weeks due to a muscular injury, but the fear is that he could be sidelined for much longer.

WHERE COULD REAL MADRID TURN?

Alexander-Arnold was substituted at the beginning of the month, but that injury never turned out to be serious, with Xabi Alonso hopeful the defender will get good news from the treatment room.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR REAL MADRID?

Real Madrid, with or without Alexander-Arnold, are back in La Liga action when they host in-form Espanyol who have 10 points from four matches and are just two points below Real Madrid. Real will likely rotate the team after a tough match mid-week against Marseille as they try to keep their 100% winning record so far this season.
