Valentin Atangana Joins Al Ahli In Major €25 Million Transfer

Young midfielder Valentin Atangana has joined Al Ahli on a three-year contract worth €25 million. This happened after his expected move to Strasbourg broke down at the last moment.

WHY THE MOVE TO AL AHLI HAPPENED

For most of this summer, Atangana was expected to join Strasbourg after the French club agreed on a €15 million deal with Reims. The France U21 international was highly wanted, with Roma and Galatasaray also interested.

But discussions with Strasbourg collapsed late in the process, and Al Ahli quickly seized the opportunity to complete a deal. Atangana will join the Saudi Pro League team for a much higher fee and is expected to become an important part of their squad rebuild.

ATANGANA’S SEASON SO FAR

Atangana, who is 19, was one of the standout players in Ligue 1 last season for Reims. He played 33 league matches, scored three goals, and registered four assists. His maturity and physical presence in the midfield were key factors in Reims’ solid season.

Al Ahli, on the other hand, finished fifth in the Saudi Pro League last season, earning a spot in next year’s AFC Champions League but missing out on the title race. With rivals like Al Hilal and Al Nassr strengthening their squads, Al Ahli has made a bold move to bring in new talent.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR AL AHLI AND ATANGANA?

Atangana’s arrival provides Al Ahli with a promising midfielder as they aim to rise higher in the Saudi Pro League. Their next game is against Al Taawoun, who are just two points below them in the table after the first three matches this season. Currently, Al Ahli sits third, four points behind leaders Al Hilal. Fans want Atangana to quickly make his debut and strengthen the midfield as the team fights to stay near the top in a fast-growing league.
