Valentin Carboni Nears Genoa Loan Move from Inter
Valentin Carboni is set to join Genoa from Inter Milan on loan until June 2026. The deal doesn’t include a purchase option, but has bonuses based on his appearances. Carboni is expected to return to Inter next summer.
According to a previous report, Genoa has finalized their negotiations for multiple loan signings this season, reflecting their active transfer strategy.
WHAT IS THE DEAL?
Inter and Genoa are finalizing negotiations for Valentin Carboni‘s loan move to the Ligurian club. Talks are in advanced stages and a final agreement is expected soon. The 20-year-old spent the start of the last season on loan at Olympique Marseille but was sent back to Inter after a long-term injury cut his stay short. He returned to full fitness during the second half of the season, featuring for Inter in the 2025 Club World Cup where he scored a late winner against Urawa Red Diamonds in the group stage. Inter are keen to retain Carboni’s services and have not included any purchase option in the deal with Genoa. Genoa will try to lure the midfielder permanently during his loan stint but the current agreement ensures an eventual return to Inter in the summer of 2026.
Inter Milan finished second in the Serie A title race in the 2024/25 season, emphasizing their competitive standing last season.
GENOA AND INTER’S RECENT FORM
Genoa narrowly avoided relegation from Serie A last season, finishing 13th in the standings according to a report. The club appointed a new coach at the end of the last campaign, who needs time to implement his ideas. Inter are one of Europe’s most dominant teams and spent the last years at the top of Serie A table. Genoa, who have won both Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the past, are trying to build a team capable of challenging for honours again.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Genoa are likely to introduce Carboni to the fans in the next home match, against Lecce on August 23rd. Inter face Torino in the Serie A opener. Genoa’s immediate objective is to avoid relegation, which could lead to more favorable negotiations with Inter over a permanent transfer for Carboni.
