Vanja Milinković-Savić Set for Napoli Switch in €21 Million Transfer

Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić will join Napoli after agreeing verbally with Torino. Napoli will pay €21 million over four years for the 28-year-old. He is a key addition to Antonio Conte’s team.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After weeks of rumors, Napoli have struck a deal to sign Vanja Milinković-Savić from Torino. They will pay more than the player’s €19 million release clause to allow a flexible payment plan. The agreement includes a multi-year contract, keeping Milinković-Savić at Napoli until at least 2029, with the option of staying until 2030. Naples are close to signing Milinković-Savić, as confirmed by recent reports. Milinković-Savić joins Kevin De Bruyne and Noa Lang as part of Napoli’s busy summer. He will compete with Alex Meret, who recently extended his contract until 2027. Conte will have two options for the future.

WHY THIS TRANSFER IS IMPORTANT

Milinković-Savić has been Torino’s first-choice goalkeeper for four seasons, playing 38 Serie A games last season, where he conceded 44 goals and kept 11 clean sheets. He helped Torino finish mid-table, and Napoli need experience and depth in goal as they prepare for the upcoming season. The club allowed fewer goals than expected during their title run. The Serie A’s best shot-stopper adds competition to Conte’s side and experience to a congested fixture list. Conte’s plan to compete for major titles made this buy possible, and bringing in an international with 35 caps for Serbia is a perfect fit. It shows the club’s ambition and financial capability to stay at the top.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR NAPOLI AND TORINO?

Napoli start their 2025/26 campaign next month against Sassuolo, aiming to build on their success after winning their second Serie A title. Torino, who finished tenth, now face the task of replacing their departing goalkeeper. Napoli are building a side to defend the title and Milinković-Savić and Meret are set to battle for a starting spot. Napoli were just ahead of Inter Milan who finished 2nd last season and will look to extend the gap. The coming weeks will show how quickly the former Torino goalkeeper adapts to life in a title-winning squad.
