Vitinha to Stay at Paris Saint-Germain Despite Transfer Speculation

Vitinha will not leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Club leaders say he is key to their plans.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Rumors claimed top European clubs wanted Vitinha. But PSG shut down those stories. The midfielder signed a new contract in February 2025, keeping him at the club until 2029. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, sporting director Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique see him as essential to their project. There is no release clause, so he is not available this summer.

VITINHA’S FORM AND PSG’S SEASON SO FAR

Vitinha is one of PSG’s most dependable midfielders. Last season, he played 33 Ligue 1 games, scoring three goals and assisting five times. He also played in every Champions League knockout game. Notably, PSG won Ligue 1 last season, finishing first with 84 points, and they are currently first in Ligue 1 this season, as they also aim to win back to back Champions League titles. The team is also competing in the Champions League.

WHAT NEXT FOR PSG AND VITINHA?

PSG’s next game is against Lens this Saturday in Ligue 1. Lyon is mid-table, and they have one win and one loss so far this season. PSG aims to increase their lead at the top, wanting to stay ahead of Monaco, Lyon and Marseille, who are some of their main competitors for the season. Vitinha is expected to start and be important in midfield as PSG pushes for another league title and a deep Champions League run.
