Wilfred Ndidi Set For Besiktas Move After Leicester Accept Bid
Leicester City have accepted a bid from Besiktas for Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, meaning he could leave the club this summer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Besiktas offered Leicester City £8.3 million (€9.5 million) for Ndidi. Leicester have accepted the bid. Talks went quickly. Ndidi joined Leicester in 2017, and now he is close to moving to the Turkish Super Lig. Only personal terms and medical checks are left before the deal is done.
WHY THIS MOVE NOW?
Ndidi played 28 Premier League games last season and made five assists, but Leicester were relegated, finishing 18th in the league. With Leicester now in the Championship, Ndidi was expected to leave. At 28 years old, he doesn’t want to play in England’s second tier. Instead, Ndidi is eager to join a team competing for titles, and reports indicate that Besiktas need midfield players and want Ndidi to help them strengthen their team for a title run in Turkey.
WHAT NEXT FOR NDIDI AND BOTH CLUBS?
Besiktas ended the 2024/25 Süper Lig season in fourth place. They were 14 points behind champions Galatasaray and want new signings to catch up. Ndidi could become important for them as they try to win the title. Their next league game is against fourth-placed Trabzonspor. Leicester aim to return to the Premier League after being relegated last season, starting their EFL Championship season on August 9th against Sheffield Wednesday, missing one of their most experienced players.
